Development of Tool Wear Standards and Wear Mechanism for Micro Milling Ti-6Al-4V Alloy

With the rapid development of high-precision-device technology, new demands are put forward for micro milling. The size effect and low cutting energy milling make process expensive difficult, especially Ti-6Al-4V alloys. wear micro-milling cutter lacks corresponding international standards its mechanism is complex. In this paper, four kinds cutters with different states were obtained by designing experiments, observed analyzed. diameter reduction, end face wear, flank edge radius comprehensively It considered that formulation a micro-milling-cutter standard needs comprehensive consideration, 30 ?m, 35 ?m tool reduction 55 can be used as failure criteria cutter. forms mainly include abrasion marks, material adhesion, built-up edges micro-collapse blades. Adhesive exists in whole plays major role. Abrasive diffusion oxidation will occur when temperature reaches melting point Co. analyzed more comprehensively, wear-failure formulated complex revealed.
